Congratulations on your journeyman’s certificate!
There was plenty of reason to celebrate on 4 July 2026 for the hearing aid professionals’ craft: 531 hearing aid professionals successfully completed their dual apprenticeship this summer. After demanding years of training and examinations, they were warmly welcomed into the rank of journeymen at the largest journeyman graduation ceremony of a healthcare craft in Germany, held at the Music and Congress Hall (MuK) in Lübeck. More than 1,200 people were present live on site or followed the event via stream.
“In future you will not only give people better hearing, but also a piece of quality of life and a sense of belonging. Guard your technical excellence like a treasure. But do not forget that it is only through the combination of innovation and sensitive, patient counselling that modern technology becomes genuine humanity. Enter this profession with an open ear, an alert mind and a warm heart“ – this was the advice Eberhard Schmidt, President of the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Professionals (biha), gave the graduates for their future professional paths, after he had ceremonially released them, in accordance with craft tradition, from the rights and obligations of apprentices.
Guests of honour from the skilled trades and politics congratulated alongside family, friends, teachers, lecturers and trainers, the healthcare professionals on completing their dual apprenticeship, which at the same time marks the start of a new stage in their careers – for some with a reunion in Lübeck at the Campus Hearing Acoustics for master craftsperson training or other advanced training courses, in order to take the next step in their careers.
Lübeck’s Lord Mayor Jan Lindenau sent a message of greetings with his congratulations. Anette Röttger, Member of the State Parliament from the CDU parliamentary group in Schleswig-Holstein and spokesperson for culture, civic education, religion, consumer protection and nutrition, delivered the honorary laudation. ‘At the centre of our body is our heart. It beats for our life. May this attitude remind you of your release from apprenticeship“ – she appealed to the graduates.
”If you choose, obtaining your journeyman’s certificate can become a real game changer for you. It is not only a milestone in your professional life, but also gives your self-confidence a huge boost and strengthens your role in our society“- said Jens Rießen, Director of Studies and Head of the Federal Vocational School for Hearing Aid Professionals (LBS).
Everyone expressed their deep gratitude to the training companies, teachers at the vocational school, lecturers at the Academy of Hearing Acoustics as well as the examiners, whose special commitment contributed to the qualification of the newly admitted hearing aid professionals. Luise Flessa, Chair of the Journeyman Examination Board, announced the overall results of this year’s summer journeyman examination and honoured the best candidates – accompanied by music by ’Kool and the Gang’ and ’Kings of Leon’, interpreted by the live band ‘Veryable’, who also provided a cheerful musical finale to the festive event.
