Minister President Daniel Günther presents Special School Award for inclusion and Diversity
Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, visited the Campus Hearing Acoustics on November 8, 2024 to present the special school award for inclusion and diversity to the Federal Vocational School for hearing aid acousticians.
“The topic of inclusion is firmly anchored and invigorated at the Federal Vocational School for Hearing Aid Acousticians“, explained Minister President Günther during the award ceremony and added: “You are training young women and men from all over Germany not only to become outstanding hearing aid professionals, but also to become people with the ability to put themselves in the position of their customers. In various projects, apprentices learn, what it means to have a hearing impairment, poor vision or to use a wheelchair, and reflect on this later in class. This sensitizes them to the needs of people with disabilities. Thank you very much for this great commitment to an inclusive society!“
The Federal Vocational School receives the award, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, for its many years of work on the topic of inclusion. For integrating this topic into teaching and for the provision of aids for those with disabilities. Inclusive schooling includes, for example, low-threshold counseling services for apprentices with the aim of developing joint strategies that will enable learning and working even when facing special challenges. Moreover, a 14-course system for physical education caters to the different needs and abilities of young people.
After the award ceremony, the Minister President joined a student feedback session on the “Impaired Hearing Perception” project at Campus Hearing Acoustics, which makes the effects of a hearing loss in everyday life tangible for students with normal hearing. He also visited a lab with state-of-the-art technology, where a digital 3D ear scan was demonstrated to him.
Eberhard Schmidt, President of the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians, sent his congratulations for the special inclusion and diversity award on behalf of the hearing acoustic trade: „I am truly delighted that the Federal Vocational School has received this fantastic award. It is another confirmation of the outstanding efforts on Campus Hearing Acoustics to successfully put inclusion and diversion into practice and provide young people with the best possible qualifications for our demanding health care profession. We hearing aid professionals know the obstacles that hearing-impaired people face in every day life and always felt that it is our task to raise awareness and help to give back quality of life.“
