EUHA Congress 2024: afh informs about career opportunities
From October 16 to 18, 2024, the International EUHA congress and trade show was held in Hanover. The well-visited exhibition stand of Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians and Campus Hearing Acoustics invited guests to an exchange on site. At the same time, the Academy of Hearing Acoustics informed about the many attractive career opportunities for hearing aid professionals on the” EUHA Live Area” stage in the new central meeting and networking space of the trade show.
One of the main topics of the three-day EUHA congress was how to attract trainees and qualify young professionals. The Academy of Hearing Acoustics and the Federal Vocational School for Hearing-aid professionals, together with the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians, provided information about the vocational training, further education and training opportunities on Campus Hearing Acoustics at their own, newly designed, trade fair stand.
On the “EUHA Live Area” stage in the center of the trade show, Marcus Nissen, Head of Education Management at the Academy of Hearing Acoustics, gave an overview of various “Career Opportunities for hearing aid professionals – from journeyman/woman to Master craftsman/woman “. The presentation was met with great interest. In addition to the traditional career entry via the three-year dual apprenticeship program, other qualification options, for example for persons changing their career paths, were discussed.
During the General Assembly of the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians, which took place on Thursday evening during the Hanover congress, securing the next generation of professionals was also one of the main topics. In view of the shortage of skilled workers for professional hearing system care, now and in the future, Eberhard Schmidt, President of the Federal Guild of Hearing Acousticians, said: „The number of people requiring care will increase steadily and we will not run out of work.” Those who choose the profession of hearing aid acoustician, opt for a state-of-the-art healthcare trade that brings people and technology together.
Janine Otto, Vice President of the Federal Guild, called on the sector to do even more to promote this versatile healthcare profession: “Our profession is great! We change lives. Every day, we give people back the ability to hear.” She emphasized: “It’s not enough that we are enthusiastic about our profession, we also need to convey this passion to young people.” She received a big applause by the audience for her remarks.
