Lübecker CI Symposium: Register Now, Share Knowledge, Strengthen Care

On 13 and 14 November 2026, the Lübecker CI Symposium brings together expertise and care practice at the Campus Hearing Acoustic. Lectures, workshops and discussion panels will present current developments and practical care concepts. The event also promotes dialogue and networking within the CI field. Registration is available here .

The Lübeck CI Symposium at the Campus Hearing Acoustic offers a forum for professional exchange on cochlear implant care. It is aimed at experienced partners in CI care as well as those interested in hearing aid acoustics, audiology, medicine, therapy and counselling. The goal is to make care structures more transparent and to strengthen collaboration sustainably.

Perspectives from Counselling to Aftercare
The lecture programme combines scientific findings with experience from care practice, presented by experts . Prof. Dr. Angelika Illg presents the “Hearing Loss – Quality of Life” questionnaire (HL-QOL) for measuring quality of life in people with hearing loss. Dr. Melanie Krüger addresses, under the title “Listening Effort – More Than Just Understanding,” why the strain of listening matters for patient-centred care. Dr. Yvonne Seebens shows how the Marte Meo concept can strengthen parents and support children’s hearing and language development.

Further focus areas include care for unilateral hearing loss (Adelgunde Weichenrieder and Dr.-Ing. Thomas Wesarg), the possibilities and limits of predicting CI outcomes (Prof. Dr.-Ing. med. Ulrich Hoppe), and the effects of music training on speech intelligibility (Dr. Daniela Hollfelder). Jana Verheyen speaks about new approaches in CI aftercare. Ulrike Berger discusses how self-help groups and local acousticians can become ideal partners.

Workshops to Deepen Practical Knowledge
On the event’s Friday, workshops on three topics are available, addressing central questions of CI care:
• “Another Hearing Aid – or Already a Cochlear Implant?” led by Henk de Jong
• “Outpatient CI Rehabilitation at the HCIZ – Presentation of the Hamburg Hearing Network” led by Anica Zafke & David Nguyen-Dalinger
• “The Hearing Aid Professional Craft: Integrating New Competencies in the Care of People with Hearing Implants” led by Marc Lux

Expert Dialogue and Personal Exchange
Panel discussions enable the exchange of different perspectives. The shared evening gathering on the symposium’s Friday and an accompanying industry exhibition round off the programme and provide opportunities for networking. In this way, the Lübeck CI Symposium combines professional development with dialogue on future-oriented CI care.
