AHH 2025: Academy of Hearing Acoustics takes part in expert conference in Jordania
From April 24-26, 2025, lecturers of the Academy have joined the 11th Conference of the Advanced Arab Academy of Audiovestibular (4A) in Amman, Jordania, to share their expertise. With more than 25 member countries, the AHH expert conference is one of the most important meetings for hearing aid professionals, audiologists and ENT specialists in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
During the AHH 2025 conference in Amman, Martin Richter, Deputy Head of International Department, as well as lecturers Thomas Becker and Arthur Holl of Academy of Hearing Acoustics offered well attended workshops and lectures on practical aspects of taking ear impressions and cerumen management. These topics and their hands-on presentation, were met with keen interest from the AHH 2025 audience of professionals, most of whom came from various Arab and Northern African countries.
On the first conference day, the Academy of Hearing Acoustics offered an inter-active workshop on how to take a perfect ear impression. Professional techniques of taking ear molds were demonstrated. Apart from the correct procedure and the selection of the best suited material, the workshop also focused on safety regulations and hygienic standards. Cerumen Management was the topic of the Academy’s workshop on the second conference day. The removal of cerumen from the outer hearing canal is an important preparatory step, to obtain the most accurate results possible during audiometry and ear impressions. The team of aha lecturers demonstrated to the Amman workshop participants how to recognize a “clogged” ear and which measures should then be taken.
For many years, the Academy of Hearing Acoustics has been in professional exchange with Dr. Khalid A. Hadi, Chairman of the AHH organization committee, and the audiologists of the Advanced Arab Academy of Audiovestibular (4A) in Amman. The five partners of the 4A include the Jordanian Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the British Academy of Audiology, the Egyptian Audio-Vestibular Medicine Association Group, the American Salus University as well as the Lübeck Academy of Hearing Acoustics.
“The Arab Hearing Health Congress offers an indispensable platform for the global exchange of knowledge in hearing care. The expertise and high standards of the partners, including the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians and the Academy of Hearing Acoustics in Germany, can provide valuable impetus for the further development of hearing care in the Arab region and lead to a sustainable improvement in the quality of life of many people,” says Dr. Khalid A. Hadi, President of 4A and Chairman AHH.
“Networking and exchange of knowledge beyond national borders and continents, are crucial for us as WHO partners, in order to continue to improve the care for people with hearing defects world-wide,“ says Jakob Stephan Baschab, General Manager, German Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians and Director of Academy of Hearing Acoustics. “The qualification of skilled workers is a deciding factor. Our concept of dual vocational training in hearing acoustics is internationally renowned. Through the Campus Hearing Acoustics, we share our expertise in Germany and other countries.“
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) , 5 percent of the world population, i.e., approx. 430 million people, suffer from a hearing loss, among them 34 million children. Based on estimates, this means that by 2050, more than 700 million people, every 10th person will be impacted.
