Information on the Vocational Training and Career Opportunities in the Hearing Acoustician Trade during the Week of Professional Education

The Campus Hearing Acoustics provided information about dual training and career opportunities in the hearing acoustician trade as part of the “Vocational Training Week Schleswig-Holstein”, which took place from November 25 to December 1, 2024 under the motto “Opportunities and prospects with vocational training”.

The “Schleswig-Holstein Vocational Training Week” was launched last year on the initiative of the Schleswig-Holstein Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SHIBB) as an annual career orientation event. Its aim is to give pupils the chance to learn about the various professions and the opportunities of vocational training during their time at school. The Hearing Acoustics Campus also took part in this event.

On November 29, 2024, a team of the Federal Vocational School for hearing aid acousticians (LBS) informed pupils about the excellent prospects of a dual apprenticeship in the hearing acoustic trade. They learned how hearing aid acousticians can help people with hearing impairments to improve their quality of life. Apprentices gave first-hand, authentic accounts of the training process and requirements. Specific questions about the apprenticeship and career opportunities in the hearing acoustic trade were answered.

The LBS team’s exhibition room for the hearing acoustic trade was well attended throughout the day. Around 80 pupils from the 9th and 10th grades aged between 14 and 16 came to find out more about the profession of hearing aid acoustician and the Campus Hearing Acoustics. The practical and interactive presentation which also included typical professional activities was very well received. Especially, the demonstrations of digital impression taking using Otoscan, viewing auditory canals using a video otoscope, digital processing of earmolds and listening to hearing systems were met with great interest. Many of the young people were impressed by the handling of the ultra-modern and innovative technology which is part of the profession of hearing aid acoustician. This included, for example, digital impressions and the video otoscope. Some were also very interested in the social aspects of the profession, which includes consultation and communication

The “Schleswig-Holstein Vocational Training Week” takes place every year. The Campus Hearing Acoustics is planning to take part in the career guidance week again in the coming years with an information offer on training and career opportunities in the hearing acoustics trade.
