International Summer Academy: Professionals from four continents join the training at the Academy of Hearing Acoustics

From August 19 to 30, the Campus Hearing Acoustic once again turned into a meeting point for specialists in the field of hearing health care from many parts of the world. Participants of this year’s International Summer Academy, travelled all the way from Asia, Africa, South America and various European countries to Lübeck, in order to join the high-level trainings on the fitting of hearing systems and pediatric acoustic at the Academy.
The international training weeks were held at the Academy of Hearing Acoustics for the 15th time. This year’s participants came from Egypt, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, Slovakia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Bhutan, India, Peru, Hong Kong as well as the Philippines. After completing the courses, they all agreed: The trip all the way to the Campus Hearing Acoustic was definitely worth it!

The International Summer Academy (ISA) was again part of the Sonova’s group worldwide training and advanced education program of the International Hearing Academy (SIHA). SIHA has been a co-operation partner of Academy of Hearing Acoustics for many years now. During the first ISA week, in the basic course, the focus was on teaching and practicing basic skills and knowledge for a best possible hearing system supply. The Advanced Course, held in the second week, concentrated on pediatric acoustics.

Thanks to the excellent co-operation with committed test persons and the state-of-the-art equipment at the Academy of Hearing Acoustics, which also includes high tech simulation manikins, lecturers ensured that participants of both classes could practice their newly acquired skills. Next to intensive theoretical classes and skills labs, which were held in English by highly motivated and qualified lecturers of the Academy of Hearing Acoustics, participants from all over the world, enjoyed the informal exchange of knowledge and experience during joint luncheons and a sightseeing tour.

All participants completed the International Summer Academy with a certificate. They were looking forward to returning to their relevant home countries to share and apply their new skills and knowledge.
