Start: Business Management Skills (Part III)
Your journey begins with the acquisition of business management skills. Here, you learn how to manage a hearing aid acoustics business successfully and efficiently. This stage forms the foundation upon which your entire master craftsman training is built, optimally preparing you for the challenges ahead.
Intermediate Stage: Vocational and Workplace Education (Part IV)
In the second stage, we focus on your skills as a leader and trainer. You learn how to motivate and train employees to build a strong, successful team. These skills are essential for your future role as a master craftsman, as they enable you to assume responsibility and effectively lead and develop your team.
Main leg: Specialist Theory (Part II)
Having covered the business, legal, and vocational/workplace education fundamentals in the previous stages, you are well-prepared to tackle the specific requirements of hearing aid acoustics. This methodically structured approach ensures you acquire all the necessary fundamental knowledge, creating a solid basis for advanced technical expertise. In particular, the business management skills acquired in the first stage enable you to successfully master the operational area of ”managing and organizing a hearing aid acoustics business.” This knowledge is crucial for effectively planning, executing, and monitoring business management tasks during this stage. You will thus be optimally prepared to successfully manage a hearing care practice—a key qualification for aspiring Master Craftsmen.
The Home Stretch: Practical Skills (Part I)
In this final stage, you focus on the practical application of your knowledge. Working in well-equipped fitting rooms and earmold workshops—and interacting with test subjects under real-world conditions—you will perfect your technical skills in hearing system fitting and all related procedures. This practice-oriented training ensures you are thoroughly prepared for the Master Craftsman examination in the hearing care trade, both theoretically and practically, enabling you to apply what you have learned directly to the day-to-day operations of a hearing care business.

The Full-Time Master Craftsman Course (Parts I–IV)

Financial support for career advancement training under the Career Advancement Training Support Act (AFBG) – as of December 2019
The so-called “Meister-BAföG” is a statutory financial benefit that supports participants in “career advancement training.” In principle, anyone participating in a program that meets the legal requirements is entitled to this support.
This funding is provided partly as a grant and partly through a low-interest loan from KfW.Key data at a glance:
1. Scope of Funding
Funding is generally provided for the first advanced vocational training course leading to a higher qualification (e.g., Master Craftsman/Meister).
The training cost allowance covers course fees, examination fees, and other exam-related costs (maximum funding amount: €15,000).
For participants in full-time courses, a living allowance of up to €892 per month is available to cover living expenses (for single persons). Monthly allowances for family members are as follows: up to €235 for a spouse and up to €235 per child. Ongoing income, as well as the assets of the applicant and their spouse exceeding approximately €45,000, are taken into account when calculating the living allowance. Single parents receive a flat-rate subsidy of €150 for childcare costs.
Our intensive courses are also generally eligible for funding under the “Meister-BAföG” scheme, provided the total course (including Parts III and IV taken at the afh or an external provider) comprises at least 400 teaching hours.2. Type of Funding
The training cost allowance is funded via a grant covering up to 50% of the costs, while the living allowance is funded via a 100% grant. Upon passing the Master Craftsman examination, an additional 50% of the remaining training cost allowance can be waived upon application.
The remaining amount can be covered by a loan. This is a low-interest loan arranged through the KfW banking group (www.kfw-foerderbank.de). Repayment begins no later than six years after the start of the training course, with monthly installments of at least €128. In the event of starting a business within three years of completing the program, up to 100% of the loan amount may be waived.3. Disbursement
The maintenance allowance is paid monthly in advance. The contribution towards course costs is paid out as a lump sum for amounts up to approx. €4,000; otherwise, it is paid in accordance with the due dates of the course fees. A corresponding payment schedule can be negotiated with KfW after approval.
4. Applications
First, an application must be submitted to the “competent authority.” In principle, the competent authority is the one responsible for your place of residence. In most federal states, these are the municipal offices for educational support (Ämter für Ausbildungsförderung) within the districts and independent cities.
In any case, the application for funding must be submitted before the course begins.
For courses consisting of multiple parts, please plan all parts and apply for them together (maximum duration: 48 months).

The Master Craftsman Examination in Hearing Aid Acoustics
The master craftsman examination for hearing aid acousticians consists of four parts:
